Constitution of the Working Group on Waders describes structure, way of functioning and main aims of this non-governmental organization, originally created in 1987 within the All-Union Ornithological Society of the USSR Academy of Sciences

The WGW aims to:

  • maintain contacts between both amateurs and professionals studying and conserving waders

  • help organize co-operative studies; and

  • provide a vehicle for exchange of information on waders, their biology and conservation.

These aims are achieved through:

  • providing support to gathering of scientific information on various issues related to waders;

  • organizing conferences once in several years and publishing their proceedings;

  • publishing annually bulletin “The Information Materials of the WGW”

  • support of broadening of international contacts between Russian-speaking researchers and conservationists of waders and specialists elsewhere in the world;

  • concurring in conservation of wader populations for their prosperity.

Functioning of the WGW is assured by the Executive Committee elected at group conferences.
